Notifications Don t Show Up on Your iPhone? Try These 7 Fixes

Notifications Don t Show Up on Your iPhone Try These 7 Fixes
MUO

Notifications Don t Show Up on Your iPhone Try These 7 Fixes
If you don't get any notifications on your iPhone, try these fixes to bring them back to normal. Not getting notifications on your iPhone? Try these fixes to resolve the problem. Frequently missing important texts, emails, or other updates is annoying and could cause major issues if you miss critical communication. Sometimes, you might not even get notifications when your device is right in your hands. To help you with this, let's look at some solutions to get notifications on your iPhone back to normal.
1 Restart Your iPhone
Sometimes, your iPhone acts up for no apparent reason. Most of the time, a simple reboot can eliminate these glitches that cause temporary malfunctions. When you don't see notifications, first try and turning it back on before moving onto more advanced troubleshooting.
2 Check Your Internet Connection
When notifications don't show up on your iPhone, particularly for internet-dependent apps, you should next check that your network connection is active and stable. Try visiting a few websites in your browser to make sure webpages load. If your browser or other apps can't access the internet, chances are that your notification issue is network-related.
Troubleshoot Cellular Data Issues on Your iPhone
For cellular connections, turn off cellular data and turn it back on. Alternatively, enable airplane mode and disable it after a few moments. You'll find both of these options in Control Center on your device. Doing either of these should help restore your iPhone's cellular connection from a temporary issue. If the problem persists, see our . Make sure that you still have an active data plan and haven't run out of data. Reach out to your cellular carrier for further support with this.
Troubleshoot Wi-Fi Connectivity Issues on Your iPhone
When trying to fix an issue on a Wi-Fi connection, rebooting your router helps most of the time. However, if your iPhone's connection on a Wi-Fi network is still slow or unstable after a power cycle, see our .
Disabling Your VPN Could Help
VPNs change both your cellular and Wi-Fi connections, so they can interfere with notification delivery. So if you have a , try disabling it, then check if that fixes the notification issue. You can disable a VPN connection from the provider's app, or go to your iPhone's Settings and toggle off the VPN slider.
3 Disable Do Not Disturb
Do Not Disturb silences calls, notifications, and all types of alerts (except alarms) while enable. When notifications don't show up on your iPhone, it's possible that you (or someone else—your kids, maybe) enabled Do Not Disturb by accident. To confirm, open your iPhone's Control Center (by sliding down from the top-right corner on models with Face ID, and swiping up from the bottom on models with a Home button). Note the color of the crescent moon icon. If it's violet (bluish-purple), that means Do Not Disturb is enabled; tap the icon to disable Do Not Disturb. That will change the crescent moon's color to white and a Do Not Disturb: Off notification will show at the top of the Control Center. 2 Images There's another way to toggle Do Not Disturb. Go to Settings > Do Not Disturb and toggle off Do Not Disturb and any Scheduled Do Not Disturb time frame. 2 Images
4 Disable Do Not Disturb While Driving
The Do Not Disturb While Driving feature mutes notifications when your iPhone is connected to your car's Bluetooth, or when your iPhone detects that you're in a moving vehicle. This feature does what the name says—prevent a driver from getting distracted by notifications—but sometimes does so erroneously. For example, if you're a passenger in a taxi or a train, the feature assumes you're the driver and silences all calls and notifications on your iPhone. To disable the feature, go to Settings, select Do Not Disturb, and find the Do Not Disturb While Driving section. Under this, hit Activate and set the feature to be activated Manually. 2 Images If you want notifications , you should also toggle off the Activate With CarPlay option. Leaving this enabled will activate Do Not Disturb when you connect your iPhone to a CarPlay-compatible vehicle.
5 Check and Modify Your Notification Settings
If your iPhone doesn't display notifications for a particular app, check that the app's notification settings and preferences are correctly configured.
Change App Notifications From the iPhone Settings Menu
Launch the Settings app and select Notifications. Next, choose the affected app and make sure Allow Notifications is toggled on. In addition, make sure Lock Screen, Notification Center, and Banners are enabled per your preferences. You should also enable Sounds and Badges for the app if you want those to fire for new notifications. 3 Images
Check In-App Notification Settings
Some apps, particularly social media platforms and instant messengers like WhatsApp, Telegram, Instagram, and similar have dedicated notification settings. These act independently of the notification configuration in your iPhone's Settings menu that we looked at above. Thus, if an app doesn't show notifications despite having notifications enabled on your iPhone, for any irregularities. You can often change notification options for individual conversations, such as muting them permanently. 3 Images Instagram In-App Notification Settings Telegram In-App Notification Settings Twitter In-App Notification Settings
6 Update iOS
There's a chance that a software bug has messed up your iPhone's notification. When you have system issues like this, it's always smart to download and install the latest software update for your iPhone. Go to Settings > General > Software Update to see if there are any updates available. If there are tap Download and Install and walk through the process to update your device. Meanwhile, if the notification issue is only affecting one app, you may be able to fix the problem by updating that app.
7 Reset iPhone Settings
Still not receiving notifications on your iPhone after all the above fixes? At this point, you should try resetting your device's settings. Doing this will restore your iPhone's notification preferences to the defaults, hopefully fixing whatever is affecting notification delivery. Go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings. Enter your iPhone's passcode and select Reset All Settings on the prompt. Keep in mind that resetting your iPhone's settings puts all options back to the default. This means you'll have to connect to Wi-Fi networks again, re-configure Bluetooth devices, adjust your privacy settings, and similar. However, your data isn't affected by this. 3 Images
Get Timely Notifications on Your iPhone
Chances are that at least one of the fixes mentioned above will resolve your iPhone's notification issues. It's more than likely an accidental setting blocking the notifications than a full-blown problem. If you still don't get notifications after executing these fixes, you might have to factory reset your iPhone.

Spotted by @Futur3Sn0w on Twitter, notifications in landscape mode will now display in the center of the screen instead of taking up the entire width. Google While some may view this visual change as an improvement, it limits the number of Smart Replies you see under incoming messages, according to 9to5Google. Introduced in 2018, the Smart Reply feature uses artificial intelligence to suggest responses based on your recent messages. If you tap on one, it's automatically sent to the other person. Since the responses are auto-generated by an AI, they can often be generic or lack the proper tone, but they can be time savers if all you want to send back is a quick "Thanks!" or "See you soon!" People who rely on the feature may not appreciate getting fewer choices while viewing notifications in landscape mode. Futur3Sn0w - Studio30 The change could also be an issue for people who own phones with smaller displays, or anyone who prefers larger text and viewing areas for accessibility reasons. Android 12 is currently in beta and is rumored to arrive in the fall. It's biggest new feature is a complete visual overhaul dubbed Material You. Google is promising more colors, more animations, and a lot more customization options. It's also tweaking how quick settings look, going for rectangular icons instead of circular. Just like the landscape notifications change, it's visually more appealing, but the bigger icons mean there will be less options on the screen at once. The Xbox Store will soon be better at notifications for Wish List sales and more Windows Central

The Xbox Store will soon be better at notifications for Wish List sales and more Windows Central .
The Xbox Store will soon be better at notifications for Wish List sales and more
By Xbox is testing new Store notification settings with Xbox Insiders.
What you need to know
Xbox is currently testing a new feature with a subset of Xbox Insiders across various branches.A new "Store" section is being added to the "Xbox notifications" settings, with options to customize various Xbox Store alerts.Users will be able to control how and if they receive Xbox Store notifications, including alerts when Wish List items go on sale.If testing goes well, the improved notifications settings should go live to all users in a future update. The new Xbox Store is in a much better place than years past, but it still struggles to deliver reliable, meaningful notifications to users on relevant sales and deals, new game releases, and - most importantly - Wish List item sales. A new feature currently in testing with some Xbox Insiders should, hopefully, improve Xbox Store notifications and give users more control. On Wednesday, Xbox released new updates for the , , and branches of the Xbox Insider program. Each release tests an identical new feature, which is now available to a random subset of users enrolled in these three branches (at least for now, not all users will see it). Included users will now be able to find a new "Store" section within the "Xbox notifications" settings, which will allow them to customize how and if they receive Xbox Store alerts when on their console. score sweet discounts. If testing goes well for the new Xbox Store feature, more Xbox Insiders should expect to see it appear in the near future. Eventually, and Xbox One owners everywhere will be able to take advantage of increased control over Xbox Store notifications. 3DS Trailers Allow You to Receive SpotPass Notifications

3DS Trailers Allow You to Receive SpotPass Notifications

3DS Trailers Allow You to Receive SpotPass Notifications Nintendo Life

More than just a video by Share: A set of seven new 3D trailers hit the eShop today, but like the Nintendo Life team they're not just pretty to look at: they serve a higher purpose too. Downloading any of the trailers also allows you in to receive SpotPass notifications for that title in future by playing the video, selecting "Notifications" and making your choice there. Of course, you can change your mind at any time, but it's still a nice way for Nintendo to keep its fans up to date. The full list of trailers is below: Share: Comments ) Nice feature, although I imagine that it'll send out a total of 2-3 messages: one being "hey you signed up for this" and the other being "hey its out now lol" Yeah, these have been out in Japan for a while now. The complete set of such trailers there are: *Monster Hunter 3G
*Biohazard Revelations
*Metal Gear Solid 3D Snake Eater
*Labyrinth no kanata
*Winning Eleven 2012
*Slime Morimori Dragon Quest 3
*Theatrhythm Final Fantasy
*Sonic Generations
*Hatsune Miku Project Mirai
*Rhythm Kaitou R
*SD Gundam G Generation 3D
*Ace Combat 3D Cross Rumble
*Tekken 3D Prime Edition
*Girls RPG Tsundere Life
*Hana to ikimono rittai zukan
*Super Mario 3D Land
*Mario Kart 7
*Kid Icarus
*Fire Emblem
*Mario & Sonic London Olympics
*"Karuchobitto"
*Culdcept
*Girls Mode
*Animal Crossing
*Paper Mario
*Mario Tennis
*Luigi's Mansion 2
*Fatal Frame Yeah, I thought I got a notification from the MK7 video. When I was checking it, I saw it was only a note to let me download the videos... which I already did. Yep. Whenever someone signs up for SpotPass updates, a demo should be distributed via SpotPass at specific times in the future. Japan gets such better treatment than the rest of us I swear... Cool videos with SpotPass notifications none-the-less, but as Objection_Blaster already mentioned, will we just get 2-3 messages? for the VC ambassador games i can see this. we could get an update once the games are updated and released in their final complete forms. this just seems worthless though. oh wow. We're kinda missing out then ........ but it's not like what we're missing out on is that much really. There aren't.... well only really three.... four... maybe five good games in there I'd want to see in 3D. Ok, I guess we're missing out.
I noticed that too. All of the games that were coming out today are there, but there isn't any sign of the videos anywhere. i know i just off the phone with them. I hope we get eshop trailers of most of those games soon. & ShadowLugia: The videos will be added sometime later today. Usually videos don't get posted right away on the eShop oh, what time did the e3 videos come?
you're dead on. I don't see why I'm not getting interesting spotpass news every day. Surely Nintendo is capable of giving me news about Nintendo before anyone else. Like I don't see why Nintendo doesn't want to be the first to tell me what new eshop games will be released next Thursday. Instead they send me an e-mail 2 or 3 days late. Totally rad, thanks, Nintendo! are you being sarcastic? This is cool but where are the demos? WHERE ARE THE VIDS?
LOL probably true. But anything is better than using that lame wish list feature on the eShop. They said "today", not "right now." Know the difference Can't wait for the vids to show up. Pretty sure the Japanese videos are all floating around on Youtube if you really want to see them, btw. "Right now" would have been incorrect for Super Mario Land 2 as well though. The daily update hadn't happened yet at the time this story was published. It seems that that would be the most sensible time to add them, no? Anyone know where exactly I can find these trailers on the eShop??? SpotPass is always late with the messages anyways...so, I could care less about them now, but yeah...I want the videos nao!!! T.T Man I reaaaaally wanted to see the Bravely Default trailer in 3D... Oh well, maybe in the future ^^ Check out the backgrounds in the download menu. Some are looking like the actual game covers. I like the Paper Mario one. Still nothing...only one I can pull up is Super Mario 3D Land...and it doesn't even have a trailer up yet. :/ Sitll no 3D video update Good things come to those who wait. : You couldn't find the trailers even after changing your region to one that hasn't received them yet? I'm shocked! People have been complaining here all day about the fact that they're not up in North America yet. Look at any of the comments that have the American flag on them. The videos aren't up yet. Regardless of where you happen to be, changing your region to the US won't do you any good in this case. Maybe try a different region? no videos still from noa... It'll probably be sort of like the inception of the eshop itself, where it's promised on a certain date and NOA will release it at about 11:58pm pacific time. ...Figures. >_> no dice. its a lie. keeps constantly checking eShop Ugh...T.T I've pretty much resigned myself to the fact that it will probably be tomorrow before I'll get to see them. When I got home from my night class, checked and they weren't there, I knew the drill. As I said before, it's probably gonna be like when everyone was waiting for the eshop update back in July. I have early morning classes tomorrow, though, so I won't be staying up waiting for them like I did for the shop. I want more Mario Tennis info!
and Animal Crossing!
and Paper Mario!
and Luigi's Mansion 2!
and Kid Icarus! screw MK7 and SM3DL >:3 : no one's trolling — all LordAndrew was saying was to pay attention to the flags by users' names. none of the US-flagged users who had posted before you @29 had been able to access the videos yet, and then you popped up saying that even after changing your 3DS region to US you couldn't find them either... that's a pretty big 'duh', y'know? no one was saying you had to park it here for the day, just pointing out that by having read through the previous comments before posting you could've saved yourself some hassle. :3 There are people out there who don't like to read through all the comments you know, lol.
I sometimes don't care to read them all either. When there's an issue like this, though, where NA is awaiting some sort of inexplicably delayed download, I do tend to skim through, look for the flags and see what's up. It's the quickest, easiest way to find out when said download is finally ready, since the second it is, people will start posting about it. well still nothing, i think they mean next thursday T_T
better continue with 4swords and get some sleep... Nintendo needs to realize that the Eastern Time Zone is the most populated area of the US and Canada! Other corporations know this! Its like saying something will hit retail 5 minutes before the store closes.
Get your butt in gear Nintendo! I'd rather look at the Nintendo Life team checks again Still noting. T.T
goes back to creating Worms Reloaded maps Dude whats taking them so long to upload this its past 1AM! OMG THEY'RE UP!!!
...Nah just kidding. >.> I've been checking back all day too, now the entire day has passed and it's 12:07. I'd be more upset if I didn't find this hilarious, Nintendo just trolled us all good. It's 3:10 am here. :/
Off to bed for me... yay! i got them! I can't even connect to the eshop to check anymore. My 3DS has frozen up the last 5 times I've tried in the last 10 minutes, 4 of which forced me to turn off my system. D: When did they start doing that? Ok, what the hell? I went to bed, woke up now at 7am for class and they're still not there? Why? They're just friggin videos, NoA. They exist in some form pretty much in every other region now. It's not like they have to be localized or anything; they're in Japanese for Christ's sake. Just gimme the damn things. Awesome. I'll have to check these out later. Maybe NOA doesn't think there's a market for 3D trailers over here. Lets start a petition!!! guys they are out go to E-shop and click on Upcoming Games Preview!!!! Whoo hoo! Better late than never, I guess. The first frame of the SM3DL trailer made me squint because I felt like those dandelion seeds were gonna blow into my eyes. XD Also wanted to say that as soon as the trailers were available, I had a notification saying so. Could Nintendo actually now be using this system to their advantage and actually notifying us of things? Took them long enough. lol those were some great previews. I think I'm most excited for Luigi's Mansion and Mario Kart is this in north america?? Yup. They're on there Ok, these videos are not showing up for me. I'm in North America, and I even went through the "Upcoming Games Preview" notification from the 3DS home. When the notification took me to the eShop, it just said, "No information on this title" or something to that effect. Anyone know what's up with this? Am I experiencing a bug or something? Edit: Nevermind, either they just popped up for me, or I overlooked the "Upcoming Games" section. sigh Kinda wished the videos were longer though. xD
Still can't tell if Paper Mario will continue the partner system or not though, all I saw was some sparkly floating thing with Mario. Got mine mid day yesterday, like the new MK7 trailer though. I am loving these trailers. Can't wait for every single one of these games - mostly Mario Kart 7 though. I really wish Nintendo would release a video playing app in the vein of the Music and Image viewers on the 3DS. Most of my 3DS channels are filled with trailers that I'm sure could be organized much better. Too bad i can't just access these video via Nintendo Video! EDIT: OMG, I can't wait for Luigi's Manson II, looks like a fun game! How to Create Custom Battery Notifications for Your iPhone

How to Create Custom Battery Notifications for Your iPhone

How to Create Custom Battery Notifications for Your iPhone
MUO

How to Create Custom Battery Notifications for Your iPhone
Follow this guide to get battery notifications when your iPhone reaches any percentage you want. iPhone battery notifications are a helpful way to remind us that it's time to start charging our phones. By default, iPhone users get notified when 20% and 10% charge is remaining. For some, this is satisfactory. For others, it might not be enough of a warning. If you want extra notifications before your battery dies, you could create a custom battery percentage notification with the Shortcuts app. Here's how to set one up.
Step 1 Make Sure You Have the Shortcuts App Downloaded
To create custom battery notifications, you'll need to have the Shortcuts app installed. While this app does come preinstalled on most iOS devices, it can also be deleted. Swipe down from the top and do a quick search to make sure you have this app installed. If you don't, it's free to download. Just a heads up, it only works on iOS 14 or later, so older devices won't be able to properly use this app. Download: (Free)
Step 2 Create a New Automation
Once the Shortcuts app is downloaded, open it up to create a new automation. An automation automatically carries out a process on your phone. In this case, it will automate a battery percentage notification. You can create new automation by tapping the Automation button in the bottom menu. Once this is opened, select Create Personal Automation. A menu with a variety of automations will open up. Scroll down until you see Battery Level and select this.
Step 3 Select a Battery Level Notification
Once you're in the Battery Level settings, you can select when you want to receive a custom notification. Slide the bar to the desired percentage you want to get a notification. For this example, we're going to create a notification for when the battery is at 50%. Once you have your desired setting, tap Next in the top upper right-hand corner. With the Battery Level automation, you can also get notified when your battery falls below or rises above a certain percentage.
Step 4 Create an Action
Once you've created an automation, you'll need to set what happens when the battery reaches your set percentage. We will set that action to a notification. On the Actions page, tap Add Action and search for Show Notification. Tap this once you see it. Then you can create your custom notification message. Once this is done, tap Next and you'll get a summary page. Once you see it, tap Done. Now your automation is complete!
Shortcut Notifications Not Working You May Need to Upgrade iOS
There are some cases where you might not get notification alerts from custom shortcuts. This is a common issue with the Shortcuts app, but there is an easy fix: update iOS. Users who are still on iOS 14 have reported not getting notifications from custom shortcuts. There are also reports of those on iOS 14 getting notifications, but not getting them if the screen is locked. Luckily, upgrading to iOS 15 can fix the issue in both cases.
Creating Custom Battery Percentages With Your iPhone
While 20% and 10% are great percentages to get reminders that you need to charge soon, you might want a more of a warning. After all, if you're listening to music or using FaceTime, 20% might not be enough of a warning to wrap up what you're doing and get to a charger in time. No matter what your battery preferences are, you can customize them to your liking by following this tutorial. After all, it's your iPhone, and it should cater to your needs.

eShop Welcomes You With Update Notifications

eShop Welcomes You With Update Notifications

eShop Welcomes You With Update Notifications Nintendo Life

Come in, sit down by Share: Those exhausting days of opening the eShop, heading over to settings and scrolling through your download list to see if any of your purchased games have received updates are over. Power up the eShop now and, if any updates for your games are available, you'll be met with a message telling you exactly that; it's then a simple tap to take you to the list of updates. You'll also notice the Available Updates section actually works now, too. 3DS Ambassadors can download a free update for that adds Virtual Console features. Go wild and try it out. Share: Comments ) Slow news day, James? Yep. I've been on holiday for a week. Cool. I wonder what they will be doing on the 20th?
Adding new features or just improving the speed? For England, James? Worked with me for Metroid (UK 3DS). It works with european eshop too. It even works with the Australian e-shop Nice, nice. More days should have oddly suitable Godleneye quotes used! Remember when they said thet you will be able to access the eshop online? yeah... They said it'd be a way to view QR codes, which you scan with your 3DS. You can already do that. They also said it MIGHT come, sometime in the "near future." If you're that impatient, Nintendo isn't exactly the company for you. They're known for taking forever to release ANYTHING. I must be fully updated then cuz eshop booted up like normal for me. yeah, got this a week ago. lol and here I thought Thomas was taking over! This is news to me. I'm actually still excited to see Nintendo doing updates of any kind, no matter how they divulge the information. I just add this to the list of things Nintendo needs to do right to make the WiiU comparable to the PS3. Number 1 is still a 3DS like application to get my Wii info into to my WiiU - at release. Updates are important though, a game like Darksiders 2 is likely going to have an update, maybe even DLC. If Nintnedo is going to have 3d party support on the WiiU it's going to need to act like MS and Sony and have DLC and updates and online. I'm watching the 3DS for hope. I first saw this two weeks ago. Cool now update a wireless signal to the 3DS so we could play multiplayer on our GBA games plz. And where is the Wii Update? I found the Zelda fix channel by accident and a Netflix update by accident too. Yep, this showed up for me when the Metroid update came out. Nice to not have to scroll through all the E3 videos. I've gotten this pop-up three times already...Super Mario Bros., Metroid, and VVVVVV. A VERY nice feature to be sure, but hardly NEW news. I noticed it before seeing this post... Nice update Yay! I mean... I've never actually seen this update feature FULLY WORKING before so I have nothing to compare this to. It's nice, though, that at least an update for Metroid was announced. I also got one for VVVVV, but the game is so large I had to delete it to make room on my SD card for others. The easier the eshop gets the better. @ grumblegrumble You can buy a bigger SD card and just copy the info from the old one to the new one. I did this last night w the one that comes with it to a new 32 gig SD card
You should set your region to the UK so you can use the UK eshop as frankly the australian one sucks. You get a much bigger selection of games on the UK one. Not Receiving Notifications on WhatsApp? 8 Fixes to Try

Not Receiving Notifications on WhatsApp? 8 Fixes to Try

Not Receiving Notifications on WhatsApp 8 Fixes to Try
MUO

Not Receiving Notifications on WhatsApp 8 Fixes to Try
If your WhatsApp notifications are not working, here are some fixes you can try out... WhatsApp is one of the most popular messaging apps out there. It's free, fast, and supports multimedia sharing. It is possible to run into issues with WhatsApp on rare occasions. One common problem that you may face is when you don't receive WhatsApp notifications despite all its other features working correctly. Either you don't hear the notification sound, or your phone doesn't show you the notification message preview. This can be frustrating, and if the problem isn't fixed, you may miss an important notification. Here are some fixes you can try to start receiving WhatsApp notifications again...
1 Update WhatsApp
If you don't update WhatsApp frequently, you may run into issues with the app's functioning. This may include you not receiving notifications on WhatsApp, having problems backing up your data, or having trouble making voice or video calls. To rule this out, go to the Play Store or App Store and see if a new update is available. To avoid experiencing this issues, turn on your auto-update settings after updating the app. This allows your phone to install updates whenever a new one for the app is available. Here's how you can enable auto-updates in the Play Store: 3 Images Go to Play Store and tap on the account icon in the top right. From the menu, select Play Store Settings. Go to Network Preferences and select Auto-update apps. To allow Google Play Store to update apps you can choose Over any network or Over Wi-Fi only. Proceed to the next fix if the app is already updated.
2 Turn On WhatsApp Notifications in Settings
Android allows you to disable notifications for any app you find annoying. The chances are that you may have disabled WhatsApp's in-app notifications if you have been receiving notifications from all other apps except WhatsApp. You can check this by following these steps: 4 Images Go to your phone's settings. Navigate to the App Management section. Go to the App List. (Your phone might have different names for these options) Choose WhatsApp from the list of apps. Click on Manage notifications. Here is where you can control the kind of WhatsApp notifications you want to receive in the future. If you already have every notification enabled, it's time to try clearing the cache.
3 Force Stop and Clear Cache
Similar to other apps, WhatsApp stores temporary data as a cache that speeds up processing and reduces loading times. However, when the data accumulates too much over time, it may cause some issues. You may experience annoyances similar to not receiving notifications if the cache is not cleared for an extended time. Here is how you can clear your WhatsApp cache: 4 Images Navigate to your phone's settings. Click on App Management. Open WhatsApp settings from the App list. Go to Storage usage. Clear both the cache and the app data. Clearing the cache usually fixes most issues, but if that doesn't work, you can try more fixes.
4 Free Up Some Storage Space
While downloading and saving multimedia files, WhatsApp consumes a lot of storage space. Lack of space may prevent WhatsApp from even receiving incoming files so it won't notify you. This may also explain why you are not receiving notifications. Android will alert you when you are running low on storage, but if you want to check and clear some space manually, follow these steps: 3 Images Navigate to your phone's settings. Go to Additional settings. Tap on Storage. Remove old videos, delete some documents, and free up some space taken up by rarely used apps. When there is enough storage, WhatsApp will begin receiving multimedia files with notifications. If this fix does not solve your WhatsApp notifications issue, check if you've restricted the background data.
5 Turn Off Power Saving Mode and Background Data Restriction
You might not be receiving WhatsApp notifications if your phone is on power-saving mode, which automatically restricts the app's background actions. Meanwhile, limiting background data may extend your phone's battery life, but it may interfere with certain app features Follow the below steps to turn off the power saving mode: 3 Images Navigate to the phone's settings. Tap on the battery. Slide the toggle to turn off power-saving mode. Your phone may have the option to automatically turn on the power-saving mode when the battery falls below a certain percentage. Some Android devices allow you to limit the data usage for apps by using the mobile data limitation feature. With no network connection with the app, you may not receive a notification despite having your mobile data on. Furthermore, if your phone has an Airplane or Do Not Disturb mode, make sure this isn't turned on.
6 Log Out of Your Account on WhatsApp Web
Using your WhatsApp account on WhatsApp Web or the desktop application transfers all notifications directly on your system rather than the Android app. Log out of your account from there to rule out this issue. Here's how you can do it: 3 Images Open the WhatsApp app on your phone. Tap on the three vertical dots in the top right corner. Navigate to Linked devices. Tap on the linked devices one by one. Click Log Out. If the problem persists, try logging out of your WhatsApp account and then logging back in again.
7 Unblock Unmute Users and Groups
If you do not receive notifications from specific individuals or groups, double-check that you have not mistakenly blocked them or muted those groups. Here's how you can unblock contacts on WhatsApp. 4 Images Launch WhatsApp. Tap on the three vertical dots in the top right corner. Click on Settings. Go to Account > Privacy. Go to Blocked Contacts by scrolling down. Tap on the contact name and select unblock "contact name".
8 Update Your Phone
Check whether your phone is updated if none of the fixes has worked so far. Due to data restrictions or insufficient storage, your phone does not always automatically update. Therefore, you may have to download and install the new update manually. Here's how you can do it: 2 Images Navigate to your phone's settings. Click on Software Update. Download and install the update if it's available. If this fixes the problem, keep your phone up-to-date to avoid experiencing this issue again.
Start Receiving WhatsApp Notifications Again
With the above fixes, you should be able to receive WhatsApp notifications again. However, these fixes are not limited to WhatsApp. A few of these solutions may work for other messaging apps as well. If none of these fixes work, we suggest uninstalling and reinstalling the app on your phone to see if you can get it working again.

iOS 15 May Include Upgraded Notifications Food Tracking and More
MUO

iOS 15 May Include Upgraded Notifications Food Tracking and More
An Apple tipster has some rumors about features they expect to see in this year's iOS update. Apple's forthcoming mobile operating system iOS 15 will reportedly come with upgraded notifications, a new-look lockscreen, a food-tracking feature and other additions to the Health app, Dark Mode improvements, and tweaks to the Messages app. That's according to Connor Jewiss, a would-be Apple tipster from the UK, whose iOS 15 report was highlighted by . While it's worth noting that Jewiss is unproven when it comes to leaking information about Apple, the website nonetheless suggests that he could be accurate.
Coming Soon to WWDC
Apple is a couple of weeks from (WWDC 2021) event, when it shows off its new crop of operating systems---whether that is iOS, macOS, tvOS, or watchOS. With features finalized and ready for the initial beta releases following the Apple keynote, this is the time of year when more and more accurate reports and leaks typically show up online. Jewiss, unsurprisingly, doesn't mention their sources.
More iOS 15 Rumors
Reports about what to expect from iOS 15 have been relatively thin on the ground so far. Unlike some years, in which seemingly everything is known about new Apple releases ahead of time, the company has apparently done a good job of minimizing leaks in 2021. One previous report, from star Apple reporter Mark Gurman, did share a few rumors, however. Gurman suggested that the iPad version of iOS, iPadOS, will receive iOS 14-style widgets, allowing iPad users to customize their Home screens. He also noted that iPhones will get the ability to set automatic replies to messages based on user status, an improved iMessage app take on WhatsApp, and new privacy features.

How to Control Notifications in macOS

How to Control Notifications in macOS

How to Control Notifications in macOS
MUO

How to Control Notifications in macOS
Learn how notifications work on your Mac and how you can customize them to your liking. Notifications are a familiar part of modern life. In an always-connected world, we like to be aware of important events as soon as they occur. But what counts as important varies from person to person, and can change with context. The latest version of macOS provides plenty of customization options relating to notifications. Many settings are configurable on an app-by-app basis. Learning how to use notifications on your Mac will help you keep up-to-date without letting apps interrupting your workflow.
What Are Mac Notifications
In macOS, notifications inform you that an app has done something that you might have missed. If an app is running but isn’t your active app, it may send notifications. Some apps, such as News, can send notifications when they don’t even appear to be open. Notifications can display as small boxes in the top-right corner of your screen. They can also show on or in the Notification Center. Each notification may contain useful information with shortcuts for further interaction.
What Is Notification Center
Notification Center is a built-in macOS feature that displays a list of all your notifications. It appears on top of other windows and has a semi-transparent background. In macOS Big Sur or later, Notification Center can also display a set of widgets beneath the list of notifications. These cover the weather, reminders, notes, and more.
How to View Notification Center
You can open and close Notification Center via the menu bar. Click the clock in the top-right corner of your screen to show the Notification Center overlay. The overlay stays open, allowing you to interact with individual notifications. If you click the clock again or interact with another app, you’ll hide the overlay. Although macOS doesn’t assign a default keyboard shortcut to Notification Center, you can .
Responding to Notifications
When a notification pops up, hover over it to reveal any extra functions supported by its app. For example, a News story will show a Read Story button. A Reminder displays a drop-down menu allowing you to Snooze or Mark as Complete. Most notifications will open their corresponding app when you click them. Some notifications, such as News stories, will disappear if you click on them. You’ll need to dismiss others by clicking the close icon in their top-left corner. Notifications can include a preview. Clicking the right-facing arrow expands the notification and displays more details. It’s a useful way of consuming the notification without having to open its app. Several notifications can display in a single group or stack. Clicking expands the stack and displays them one under the other. A show less button will then appear at the top, allowing you to view them as one group again. When notifications are in a group, the close icon in the top-left will dismiss the entire group.
How to Configure Notifications
Using the System Preferences, you can configure how notifications work for each app that supports them. Go to Apple > System Preferences > Notifications to get started. Not every app uses every setting, so you might need to use some trial and error. But the general settings are useful once you understand how they work. You can turn off notifications for each app via the Allow Notifications toggle. Choosing this setting for each app is the best place to start when controlling notifications. If you’re not interested in a particular app’s notifications, just turn them all off. The alert style setting provides a finer level of control. Choose between Banners and Alerts. Both styles look the same, but banners disappear of their own accord. Alerts remain on screen until you dismiss them, so they’re far more intrusive. In general, Banners are a good choice for frequent, less important notifications from apps such as News. You might prefer Alerts for Calendar notifications or System Events. Fine-grain settings allow you to show an app’s notifications on your lock screen or in the Notification Center. It’s important to understand that notifications will still exist, even if you hide them from Notification Center. Turning the setting back on will show old notifications.
Set Up Notifications to Suit Your Way of Working
Notifications are a simple concept, but macOS offers a lot of configuration on an app-by-app basis. With careful setting up, you should be able to tune the system to nag you just the right amount. If you have an iPhone, notifications will work across both of your Apple devices. You can configure notifications on your phone using a similar process.

How to Control iPhone Message Notifications in WhatsApp Slack and More

How to Control iPhone Message Notifications in WhatsApp Slack and More

How to Control iPhone Message Notifications in WhatsApp Slack and More
MUO

How to Control iPhone Message Notifications in WhatsApp Slack and More
Here's how to reign in your iPhone notifications for popular apps like Messages, Slack, Messenger, and others. Most notifications that pass through your iPhone have one of two two fates—they're either swiped away in an instant or immediately responded to. In addition to an annoying flood of notifications that can overwhelm your device, sensitive messages can remain on your Lock Screen. This can take a hit on both your privacy and productivity. Let’s look at how you can best control the flow of iPhone message notifications in popular apps like Slack, WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, and Messages.
Managing Notifications in Messages
First, let's look at how to take control of notifications in the Messages app. We'll focus mostly on in-app options here, so be sure you're familiar with already.
Silence Messages With a Swipe
2 Images For Messages, you'll find notification options either in the individual or group message, or under Settings > Notifications > Messages. When you tap the info tab at the top of an individual message, you can silence alerts by toggling the Hide Alerts option. You can also silence groups and individuals by swiping left on the conversation in your message list. There, a bell icon will appear. For particularly annoying contacts, you can block their ability to message you further by selecting Info at the top under their name, selecting Info again, and then hitting the Block this Caller option. Besides hiding alerts in groups, you can also exit the group chat by selecting Leave this Conversation in your group’s settings.
The Case of the Traveling iMessage
One pitfall that comes with iCloud integration for Messages is that messages sent or received on your iPhone can also appear on your other devices, such as your MacBook. This can be an issue if those messages are private. To prevent this, first you’ll want to establish where you’re signed into iCloud. You can do so on your iPhone by tapping your name at the top of your iPhone's Settings. From there, you’ll find a list of devices at the bottom. If there’s a device you don't use anymore simply select the device and choose Remove from Account. If you want to dig deeper, you can adjust which addresses you can send or receive messages from. By going to Settings > Messages and choosing Send & Receive, you can adjust which addresses the service uses.
Managing Notifications on Slack
If you use Slack for work, these are the notification settings you should know to cut down on unnecessary pings.
Slack Office Hours
The first step to managing your message traffic in Slack is to set your own office hours. In the iOS Slack app, tap the You button at the bottom-right, then Notifications, and finally Notification Schedule. 2 Images Here, you can customize on which days you’d like to get notifications, and during what hours. Outside of those designated hours, Slack pauses notifications.
Do Not Disturb for On-Demand Silence
Slack understands that you may want peace sometimes, even during your office hours. You can enable Do not disturb from the You menu in Slack to silence all notifications for a set amount of time. That way, you can stop pings even during the times when you've normally set Slack to show you notifications.
Keyword Notifications
2 Images Keyword notifications are triggers that allow Slack to notify you when anyone mentions a particular term. To set them up, go to the You tab of Slack, and then under Notifications, select My Keywords. There, you can select the words or phrases that you would like to send a notification. For example, you might want to know when people use your name or the name of a project you're working on.
Cross-Platform Notifications
Through Notify Me on Mobile under You > Notifications in the Slack app, you can keep tabs on your Slack notifications while away from your desktop. The mobile app can notify you of alerts if you're inactive on the desktop, or after a set period of inactivity. If you often see duplicated alerts on your iPhone, change this setting to take longer before sending notifications.
Managing Notifications on WhatsApp
If you use the wildly popular WhatsApp, here are some tips for cutting down the number of pings it sends.
Silence Annoying Group Messages
You can mute notifications in noisy group chats for a moment or for good. Tap the top bar in the offending chat for more info, then select Mute. There, WhatsApp allows you to mute for 8 Hours, 1 Week, or Always. The same procedure applies for one-on-one chats as well. 2 Images
Keep Private Messages Private
When exchanging confidential messages, you can prevent prying eyes from seeing them by hiding the message previews. If you find your lock screen is showing too much, open the Settings tap in WhatsApp, go to Notifications, and toggle the Show Preview setting to hide the text preview in notifications.
Get Notifications on Your Desktop
If you're often at your computer and prefer to receive notifications there, you can utilize WhatsApp Web to chat from your desktop instead. See our to learn how it works.
Have Siri Read Your Notifications
If you need to check your WhatsApp notifications but can't navigate your device normally, you can ask Siri to read your latest messages aloud. Just ask Siri to read your WhatsApp messages, or to send a message to a contact.
Managing Notifications on Signal
For the ultra-secure messaging program Signal, you’ll only need to adjust a few settings to control your notification flow.
Enhanced Lock Screen Anonymity
You’ll first want to adjust what Signal shows on your lock screen. To do so, tap your profile picture in the top-left and go to the Notifications section. From there, under Notification Content, select the Show box and choose if you want notifications to show the Name, Content, and Actions, Name Only, or nothing at all. In Signal, actions include being able to mark a message as read, to reply, or the ability to call back an incoming Signal voice call. 3 Images
Adjusting Incoming Call Notifications
While we're discussing calls, there are a couple of ways you can adjust how your iPhone responds to incoming or missed calls from the app. Signal defaults to showing Signal calls in the Recents list in your Phone app. This can defeat the app's purpose of privacy and anonymity. Also, Signal doesn’t relay calls out of the box. When activated, call relay puts your Signal voice calls through its servers, avoiding your IP address from being revealed to your contact. While call relay reduces your call quality, it enhances your security. To enable, go to the Privacy section of Signal’s settings. There you will find the options to Always Relay Calls and Show Calls in Recents.
Managing Notifications on Facebook Messenger
If you use Facebook Messenger, you should know about these notification settings.
Slim Pickings for Overall Notifications in Messenger
2 Images Tap your profile picture in the top-right of Messenger, then navigate to the Notifications & Sounds section. Here, you’ll find just a few options. You can activate Do Not Disturb, Show Previews for incoming messages, or activate sounds and vibrations while using the app. There may also be an option for message reminders on this screen. You’ll find that the bulk of Facebook Messenger’s notification settings come in specific message threads.
Options in Individual Messenger Chats
2 Images In an individual message thread or group chat, tap the name at the top for more options. You can mute by clicking the bell icon under the individual’s name. To go a step further and silence an individual or group indefinitely, you can click Ignore Messages. This silences all future messages and pus them into your spam folder. The only other option after that is to block the offender. Facebook offers you the ability to block all future messages and calls, preventing you from receiving individual messages and calls from their Facebook account. It does not , which is a second option on that page. You’ll still be able to receive messages from them in groups or rooms. For group messages, the same options apply. There's the added ability to Leave Chat or block a particular member, however.

Stay Connected While Staying Sane
The steps highlighted above can help tailor your iPhone settings to best silence rowdy group messages or active chatters. Once you tweak them per your preferences, you’ll be able to respectfully stay up-to-date on what your friends, coworkers, and family have to say. But you also won't have to worry about your phone displaying too many pings that break your concentration. Image Credit: William Hook/

Stop Missing Messages by Enabling iPhone LED Flash Notifications

Stop Missing Messages by Enabling iPhone LED Flash Notifications

Stop Missing Messages by Enabling iPhone LED Flash Notifications
MUO

Stop Missing Messages by Enabling iPhone LED Flash Notifications
Make your iPhone notifications even more prominent by flashing the LED on the back of the device when they come in. Although LED flash notifications were originally developed for those with audio and visual impairments, they are incredibly useful for many other iPhone users as well. It may be a bit shocking for you to first experience the unexpected LED flash, however, it is almost impossible to miss its incredibly bright and pulsing light. This makes it one of the best notifications you can use. If you somehow miss the notification, someone around you is bound to question why your phone is suddenly flashing by itself. This actually acts as a secondary cue that you may not have seen a notification. You might also want to consider to help distinguish your notifications by touch alone.
How to Enable LED Flash Notifications for iPhone
If you’re ready to stop dropping the ball on important updates and messages, enable LED notifications on your iPhone by following these steps: Open the Settings app. Scroll down and select Accessibility. Scroll to the bottom of the screen and select Audio/Visual from beneath the Hearing subsection. Enable the LED Flash for Alerts option, which reveals a second toggle beneath it. To turn on LED Flash notifications while the phone is in Silent Mode, enable the Flash on Silent option as well. 3 Images
Missing Messages Who s the Culprit
Missing notifications is incredibly frustrating in a world of instant communication. Skipping a social media notification may sometimes feel like a blessing in disguise. However, it can be debilitating when you miss an important work memo or family call simply because you don’t hear the phone buzzing while the television is playing too loudly. Although we as users are sometimes to blame for the lack of effective notifications, sometimes the problem is an interior flaw within the iPhone itself. Often the notification never actually goes off. If you're still missing alerts and you’re sure it isn’t down to a lack of attention, take a look at some troubleshooting solutions for your iPhone instead.

How to Manage Facebook Messenger Group Notifications

How to Manage Facebook Messenger Group Notifications

How to Manage Facebook Messenger Group Notifications
MUO

How to Manage Facebook Messenger Group Notifications
If you don't want your smartphone flooded with notifications, here's how to manage Facebook Messenger alerts on the app... Facebook Messenger can be annoying and group chats can make it even worse. However, using the app is basically a fact of life. While you might not be able to function without it, this article will detail how to block members, set groups to ignore, leave groups, and more, all from within the Messenger app on your mobile device.
Messenger in the Facebook Ecosystem
Messenger is a stand-alone app and service from Facebook. —and there's even an option to use it without a Facebook account. While you can delete the app shortcut and disable notifications and updates, you can't always uninstall it from your phone. If you do need Messenger to connect with work or family, blocking members, ignoring or muting groups, and similar options can make having the app less intrusive.
How to Access General Messenger Notification Settings
Depending on how you use Messenger, playing with the general settings may be enough. These settings allow you to manage your notifications on your smartphone and set whether you want to be notified of group chat mentions, reminders, and other chat notifications. The Messenger app looks a little different on Android and Apple devices. The screenshots in this article were all taken on an Android device. If you have an Apple device, the app UI may look a little different but all of the commands will still work as described. 3 Images To access general Messenger settings on mobile, open Messenger but do not open a conversation. Then, select your profile picture in the upper left corner. In the new screen that opens, scroll down to Notifications & Sounds. For more options, scroll to the bottom of this menu and select Manage notifications. Here you will see a variety of settings you can toggle on and off to manage notifications.
Tweak Notification Settings Using the Group Menu
You can also adjust notification settings from within a Messenger group information menu. To do this, open the group chat and select the group's icon from the top of the screen. This opens a settings menu for that specific conversation or group. If you're on Android, you can also select the i icon in the upper right corner to get to the same menu. 3 Images You can mute notifications completely by selecting the Ignore Group option. If you ignore a group, you will still have access to those messages, but you won't get notifications from any of the group members. Don't worry, the other members of the group won't get a notification that you've set the group to "ignore". You can even use Block a Member to get rid of notifications from specific participants in the group. Selecting this option opens a menu of all of the members within the group. From there, you can choose whether to block a member or members in just that Messenger group or on your linked accounts as well. If you block a member within a group but you remain in the group, you'll still be able to see their messages and they can still see yours. You just won't get notifications when the blocked member or members leave messages.
How to Leave a Messenger Group
If adjusting notifications is not enough, you can leave a group. This removes you from the conversation and other group members will see that you have left. 2 Images To leave a Messenger group, go to the group settings and select Leave Group. If you leave a group, you will no longer have access to the group messages. You won't get notifications when other group members send messages, and the group's icon disappears from your recent conversations.
To Manage Micromanage or Leave Messenger Groups
It's handy to know your way around general Facebook and Messenger settings. But opening the settings within individual conversations to block or ignore conversations or users gives you much finer control over how Messenger works on your device. You should also know that if you do need to deactivate Messenger entirely, you can.
