Electrical Substations are small electrical power grids featured in GTA V for the generation, transmission, and distribution of electricity.
There are multiple electric substations all over San Andreas. They do not have realistic functions and are just added to the game to create a sense of realism in the city. Sparks can be seen flying when the electrical boxes or insulation are shot at. There are two substations in Los Santos - The LSDWP Rancho Substation and the LSDWP Vinewood Substation. In Blaine County, many electrical substations are seen around the Ron Alternates Wind Farm and the Palmer-Taylor Power Station.

The electrical substations are small enclosed areas with fencing and barbed wire on all four sides. They have a fenced gate that can be climbed over. They contain many electrical boxes of high voltage and have danger signs all over the place. Overhead insulators and wires can be seen running to the electric towers nearby. Most of Sandy Shores receives its electricity supply from the electricity generated by the windmills at Ron Alternates Wind Farm and is supplied through electric towers that run along all of Sandy Shores.

The Electrical Substations in GTA V do not have any function, i.e when a player tries to destroy the substation, nothing happens. When shot at, only electric sparks are seen flying. A player cannot cause power failure by taking down an electric substation.Many players have posted on various GTA forums asking Rockstar to add this feature in GTA 6 where players can take down substations causing an area to lose electric power supply leading to a blackout.
