Celebrate Cesar Chavez Day

Cesar Chavez Day has been an official Celebration in Denver since 2002 when it was made an official holiday of the city and county of Denver. The holiday is observed in the United States on March 31 each year to celebrate his birthday serve as a tribute to his commitment to social justice and respect for human dignity. This is the second year that AARP’s Colorado office has sponsored the celebration, our participation this year is enhanced by AARP’s Colorado’s decision to recognize the holiday by closing the office for the holiday.

Key community leaders use this event to speak to focus on issues that Dr Chávez was actively involved with. These issues are relevant to Americans today and center on worker’s rights, fair wages, pension benefits, and medical coverage.

This year’s celebration will start with a parade from St. Anthony of Padua, 3801 W. Ohio Ave. March at 10:00am ending with a celebration at 11:00am at the Denver Indian Center, 4407 Morrison Rd. on Saturday March 31st.
