The Quarry learned from Until Dawn and has multiple ending locations The Loadout The Loadout The Quarry learned from Until Dawn and has multiple ending locations Supermassive's The Quarry has multiple ending locations after player feedback says there weren't of them in their previous adventure horror game Until Dawn Jesse Gregoire Updated: May 19, 2022 07:03 ET The Quarry Supermassive fans will be glad to find out that the company's upcoming choose-your-own adventure horror game, the Quarry, has taken onboard players' criticisms of previous title Until Dawn, and the new game is slated to have even more variation in how your choices will affect the story – and that includes wildly differing endings. Speaking in the latest issue of Edge magazine (Edge #372, p. 32), Quarry director Will Byles outlines how one of the problems players had with the team's previous title, Until Dawn, was the lack of impactful, diverse endings. "One of the criticisms we got with Until Dawn was that while there were a larger number of variations at the end," Byles says, "they always took place in and around the lodge, and it came down to who was there and who wasn't." To combat this, Byles says, Supermassive is implementing a number of different ending locations for The Quarry's finale to play out in, and there will even be a path where players can skip any of these official endings altogether. "It's about giving people tangible and meaningful ends to their versions of the story," Byles says. According to Byles, The Quarry is trying to avoid predictable horror genre tropes, like knowing that when characters split from the main group that the fecal matter is about to hit the proverbial fan. The game will also limit the number of events that occur on every playthrough to the bare minimum, Byles says, and that there will be over 180 outcomes to events for players to experience. Not long to go now as The Quarry releases on June 10. The game is part of the upcoming Xbox Series X games and upcoming PS5 games roster, but it's also releasing on last-gen consoles too.
